Checking In:

I was finally able to drop off my bags at Northumberland House and begin exploring the city. If you google Northumberland Avenue, you can see it is situated directly across the infamous Thames River and Trafalgar Square, the heart of the London City itself! The streets were bustling as trolleys, taxis, bicyclists, and pedestrians zoomed by. First stop, coffee boost!

I made my way across the street to Waterstones and managed my first purchase- black coffee to give me the extra boost. I then headed straight into the middle fo Trafalgar Sqaure, where I captured the picture above. Let's just say awestruck doesn't even cover it.

I was also able to find the National Portrait Gallery(free admission) and ventured my way through the historical museum. So enriching!

Day One

Finally I'm here! I departed from Ontario, CA at 12:10pm on July 5, 2014 and arrived in London at 9:15am on July 6th! I'm exhausted and jetlagged, but have yet to find my taxi driver and head to my apartment for check-in.

When I got to customs at the airport, I didn't have proper paperwork from my school stating that I was studying. I was held up an extra 25 minutes and interrogated by the officer...needless to say I almost started crying. But all was well and I was able to get through and on my way!

The drive from Heathrow Airport to Northumberland was the most exciting and overwhelming drive of my life. I don't think I blinked the entire 45 minutes because I didn't want to miss a single object passing by my window. Wow- I can tell I'm going to love this country!
